Chennai is one of the quickest India routings from Auckland and the gateway to Tamil Nadu and much of the south. It's a route our Tamil community books year-round.
How you actually get there.
Singapore is the natural connection and gives one of the fastest total journey times to India from Auckland — around 19 to 20 hours. Kuala Lumpur is usually the cheaper alternative.
Auckland's Tamil families, students travelling to and from universities in the south, and travellers connecting to Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy.
Timing moves this fare more than anything else.
The cheapest window is generally the middle of the year outside the school holidays. December to February gives the most comfortable weather; April to June in Tamil Nadu is genuinely hot.
Relative fare pressure across a typical year on the NZ–India corridor — how demand usually moves, not a forecast for any specific date.
Things worth knowing before you pay.
Pongal in mid-January concentrates demand — book well ahead if you're travelling for it.
Chennai is a strong hub for onward domestic connections across the south; ask us to ticket them together.
If you're travelling to Kerala, compare Chennai against Kochi directly — the better routing varies by season.
