Delhi is the busiest route we book out of Auckland, and the one where a good agent saves you the most. It's the gateway to Punjab, Himachal, Rajasthan and the whole of the north.
How you actually get there.
The quickest single-stop routings are through Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, both around 20–21 hours door to door. An overnight connection in Singapore often costs no more and turns a brutal journey into a manageable one — worth asking about if you're travelling with parents or young children.
Families heading to Punjab and Haryana, travellers connecting onward to Amritsar or Chandigarh, and anyone doing the Golden Triangle for the first time.
Timing moves this fare more than anything else.
February and March are the cheapest months and the weather in the north is at its best. December is the peak — Auckland–Delhi seats for the Christmas period routinely sell out by August, so book 4–6 months ahead if those are your dates.
Relative fare pressure across a typical year on the NZ–India corridor — how demand usually moves, not a forecast for any specific date.
Things worth knowing before you pay.
Delhi is a common connecting point for Amritsar, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Dehradun — we can often add the domestic leg on the same ticket, which protects you if the international flight is late.
Winter fog in Delhi (late December to January) causes genuine delays. Avoid a tight onward connection in those months.
Most India routings out of Auckland give a generous checked allowance — often two bags. Confirm before you pay for extra.
